Urban exploring and the themes of depression, decay, belonging, and dissociation.

Cŵn Mamau

Named for the dogs of the mythological Welsh Otherworld, Annwn, appropriated by monotheism to the role of "hellhounds", these images explore the complexity, importance, exploitation, and mystery of experiencing consciousness and mortality. The Cŵn Mamau were, in the true folklore, guardians of a magical, blissful afterlife of plenty, protecting the human souls in paradise by literally hunting wrongdoers in the night until they died from exhaustion.

If you found youself straddling the veil of the next life, would the Hounds of the Mothers escort you safely to Annwn, a magical land of plenty? Or would they hunt you to your death, spurred on by the Mallt-y-Nos; the woman doomed to hunt souls for all eternity?

What, if anything, awaited these souls as their terrestrial journey ended? What, if anything, of the consciousness, the humor, the love - the terror - remains with us, however tangibly?

The Black & White Ones

Deliberately void of color to emphasize mood and emotion, encouraging the viewer to imagine their own feelings about - and colors -for the pieces.
