Creative & Technical Design

Not many designers choose to become fluent in both creative and technical design - Ms. Crusher is one of the exceptions.

Her creative designs come from a unique and intentionally varied stream of inspiration and showcase Melinda's ability to design for any gender, age, or style.

Mindy's tech designs are a delightfully satisfying-to-look-at marriage of her artistry and her analytical skills. Demonstrating a strong understanding of geometry, algebra, and physics, Ms. Crusher pairs her love of math and science with her twenty-plus years of hands-on garment construction experience to produce intricately detailed, easy-to-understand technical designs. Melinda's tech designs are thorough, and her ability to describe and communicate them to large and small vendors (both domestic and overseas) means that teams Mindy joins get better samples the first time and can move confidently into production while meeting deadlines.

WANNABE

Pulling from the turn-of-the-millennium "Cool Brittania" era, and a celebration of all things over-the-top girl power glam, the pieces of "WANNABE" are as much high-fashion statement pieces as they are functional athleticwear for day-to-day workouts.

HOY VALLEY

Stylish, expressive, structured, and artistic Hoy Valley is for smoking poolside and for business brunch; for Monday morning meetings and for live shows at the beach. Contrasting softness and structure are blended with the kind of effortless look that can only come from thoughtful, precision design.

PRIMAL

"Primal." Often used to describe things in a way that conjures images of our evolutionary ancestors - living rustic and simple lives of survival - or other times to describe the most basic instincts we still carry with us as modern humans. With this collection, Melinda pulls from her study of earth sciences and pagan religions to show that "primal" means more than just primitive and primeval.

The Elements can easily become cliche; a concept often diluted for spiritualistic self-help strategies or slapped on a brand to promote the latest ecological trend. But to the people of the past, and to those today who still keep their traditions, The 5 Elements - air, water, fire, earth, and spirit - are the fundamental building blocks of exquisite beauty. Alone they represent powerful archetypes; together they are the primal components of immeasurable beauty.
